| Each Flemish or federal library, each Flemish or federal documentation centre and each organisation engaged in library work in Flanders can become a member of the VOWB. Under certain circumstances, staff members of such libraries or organisations can also become a member in a private capacity. Institutional members are expected to contribute appropriate financial support for the funding of the activities of the VOWB and which is proportional to its share of the scientific library work in Flanders. The affiliation with the Ministry of the Flemish Community is guaranteed by a representative of the Science Section of the Science and Innovation Administration and of the Section Public Development and Libraries of the Department for Welfare, Public Health and Culture. The professional association of library staff, the Vlaamse Vereniging voor Bibliotheek-, Archief- en Documentatiewezen (VVBAD) or Flemish Association for Libraries, Archives and Documentation Centres, also has a permanent representative on the VOWB. |
